How to Make Cool Origami Shades / Sunglasses

Make your own origami shades with our detailed instructions. A cool and unique paper folding project to try!

Fold your way to instant coolness with these origami sunglasses! No UV protection, but 100% guaranteed style points!

Step 1

Start with a rectangular sheet of origami paper. I am using an 8×11 inches origami paper.

Step 2

Rotate the paper as shown.

Step 3

Fold the one corner to the second corner on the other side of the paper.

Step 4

Fold the paper in half by meeting the right corner to the left corner.

Step 5

Unfold.

Step 6

Unfold.

Step 7

Rotate the paper as shown

Step 8

Fold the bottom half up to meet the top half, using the mid crease as a guide.

Step 9

Fold the bottom piece up to the points where the triangles are leaving a small margin.

Step 10

Fold the bottom again as shown.

Step 11

Fold the third time, right to the edge.

Step 12

Fold down the small triangles.

Step 13

Fold the right side to the left.

Step 14

Fold the left side to the right.

Step 15

Unfold.

Step 16

Voila! Play with your new origami shades.
