How to Make an Origami Blinking Eye

Need another eye that you can wave around with and requires both hands to blink and never needs glasses or contacts to see clearly?

Well, you can learn how to make one in the blink of an eye because it’s that easy to make. Okay, maybe two blinks if you blink really slowly.

Step 1

Start with a square sheet of origami paper. I am using an 7×7 inches origami paper.

If you only have regular paper, follow these instructions on how to make a square origami paper.

Rotate the paper diagonally.

Fold the paper in half by folding the left corner to the right.

Unfold.

Fold the paper in half again by folding the bottom corner to the top.

Fold the bottom corner to the center.

Fold the top and bottom corners in at the first crease.

Fold in the top and bottom edges at the next crease. Draw in the eyeball at this point.

Fold in the top and bottom edges to the center.

Turn the paper over.

Fold the left corner to the center.

Fold in the top right corner creasing from the top middle to the right middle.

Fold in both bottom left and right corners like the top corners, then unfold.

With your finger and thumb, hold the top and bottom corners together. Do this for both sides.

Turn the figure over and hold both sides. Pull apart to blink the eye and push in to open the eye.
