The origami cat box is not difficult to fold at all, and the hardest part is drawing on the face.

Start with a square piece of origami paper. I am using an 7×7 inches origami paper.

If you only have regular paper, follow these instructions on how to make a square origami paper.

If you are using two color sided origami paper, face the lighter side upwards.

Fold the upper left corner to the lower right corner.

Unfold.

Now fold the upper right corner to the lower left corner.

Fold the bottom half backwards (where the creases meet at an X).

Unfold but don’t flatten it. With your finger, poke the center and it should pop in.

After popping in, it should look like this.

Bring the left and right creases to the center to collapse the figure into a triangle.

Flatten the fold well.

Fold the top layer of the left flap over to the right, crease the center well.

Flip over the model.

Fold the top layer of the left flap over to the right, crease the center well.

Rotate the figure so it’s upside down.

Fold the bottom corner up into a triangle.

From the corner of the triangle’s crease, fold both layers of the left side as shown.

Fold the top layer of both sides to the vertical crease.

Unfold the left flap and open it up.

Now crease and squash it down.

Repeat the squash fold on the right flap.

Fold the left side of the “kite” shaped flap as shown.

Tuck both tips in at the top.

Press the folds firmly.

Turn over the model.

Carefully open the box and the bottom should begin to flatten.
